conect: unique to sunderland schools

Thanks to investment by Sunderland City Council, Connect 2006 - 07 involved 60 schools across the City in a year of creativity.

The Forge is re-launching the Connect membership scheme for 2007- 08 at another reduced rate for schools. The aim of the scheme is to ensure entitlement for schools across the City of Sunderland and to raise the profile of Arts Education work across the City.

What can the Connect Scheme do for Sunderland schools?

  • Provide networking opportunities with artists and other schools through a launch event
  • Provide and organise an Artist who will be resident in your school for a day running activities with children and staff

  • Offer opportunities for schools to bid into a training fund to provide bespoke training and CPD for staff
  • Help you develop arts partnerships with venues across the City
  • Assist you in meeting the criteria for an Artsmark application and provide practical support for schools making an Artsmark application

Each school will be presented with a membership certificate on registration.

“Sunderland City Council is delighted to be working in partnership with The Forge through the Connect Arts membership scheme. We hope to connect with schools, children and young people across the city to create within them the irresistible urge of the creative artist!”

Mike Wooler, School Improvement Officer, Sunderland City Council
