The Forge’s Small World Big Dream festival has given thousands of young people from County Durham and Sunderland the chance to gain first hand experience of the richness and variety of world cultures present across the UK. This annual event brings with it a packed programme of workshops and performances and creates a huge buzz in schools.
During the autumn term pupils from 62 schools across County Durham and Sunderland will be taking part in workshops led by six artists:
The Forge is to be congratulated for their Small World Big Dream initiative. This is an example of using the arts to reinforce the messages of respect, understanding and cultural cohesion in an area that is predominantly monocultural with a small, often isolated, black and minority ethnic community. An exemplary project that deserves the recognition and accolades that it is receiving from Durham and Sunderland.
